I’m seeing a lot of hype/buzz/disdain being thrown around about the METAVERSE so I feel it is my duty of care (as the patron saint of the Internet) to speak on it.

The Metaverse is mine, it’s ours, it’s yours. It’s whatever tf you want to be. It’s not theirs. It’s freedom. It’s not that high concept and it’s def not a commodity. It’s art and community, the rest is just noise.

How I personally engage with it is 1 part play, 1 part voyeurism.

★ PLAY ★
I’ve been Roblox-obsessed for a while now, quietly living my second life online exploring new worlds in pursuit of newness itself. I have mostly been styling my avatar because I can’t wear my IRL wardrobe because I have been trapped inside due to the pandemic and human responsibilities. I was vlogging my adventures on TikTok last year but stopped because I just wanted to play for me, not for views. I’ve attached my current fit pic, I can’t figure out how to add tattoos yet. I’ve also been experimenting and having fun with writing and creating on new platforms to create my version of art again.

★ VOYEURISM ★
I have been observing others that I admire make moves their way and it’s been inspiring to watch. I’ve been consuming discourse around me on Twitter, Discord and Reddit. There is so much true discovery that isn’t anchored in vanity metrics, algos, press releases. This is how I’ve always loved the internet. My community has always been first and foremost the e-community.

The Internet is infinite, so keep exploring, get lost, stay free. We live in a sick sad world, but just remember that there’s beauty beyond the surface.
