THE GRIEF PARADE


I’m sitting on a deck in Brooklyn reading a Lydia Lunch book under a flight path. As a passing plane rumbles above me, I stop to consider the words of my recently deceased aunt. “It’s lonely being alone”, her voice whispers in my memory. I’m in New York City with my sister and my boyfriend. I’m not alone, so why do I feel so lonely?
